Day 1 - The Journey of a Lifetime Featured
Let the adventure begin with our hearts full of gratitude.
It was pretty quiet at our house as Skitter had left for Camp Davies on Saturday evening and we made the final preparations of the trip of a lifetime. We're so grateful to Dick and Donna. For those of you who are dog lovers you know leaving one of your pack behind is really difficult but we know that Skitter will be treated like he's one of the family along with a houseful of playmates. He'll need a rest when we return.
We had a great send off Sunday morning with our hometown support group. It was our first attempt at using the selfie stick to mark the occasion. We're also grateful to our Albert Lea support group, many of whom drove to Ole's Store Restaurant in Northfield to enjoy a wonderful Sunday morning brunch. Ole's is nestled at the base of St. Olaf College and was actually the local neighborhood grocery story opening in the 1880's. As of 2011 it is home to a lovely upscale restaurant. Their corned beef hash is second to none. Treat you and your special friends to a great weekend brunch and lunch or dinner during the week. Be prepared to wait as they do not take reservations. It's worth the wait. Check out Ole's menu at http://www.olestorerestaurant.com
Steve and Cindy delivered us safely to the airport where we were expecting a long security process only to discover that we are considered "low risk" and therefore exempt from removing shoes, showing liquids, taking off wraps and having our bodies scanned. This was really something to be grateful for. As only my hairdresser knows, I was stressing out about taking multiple 3oz bottles of hair gel, only to discover it didn't matter on this leg of the trip.
I know I'm surpassing the 3 things, I grateful for today, but I cannot miss expressing gratitude for an on time flight - relatively roomy space for my long legs, and a safe arrival in Los Angeles.
