It's 6:27 am on my IPad. I think it's Monday because Monday follows Sunday and I have no idea whose time zone we're flying in,
but it seems like it is time to wake up on the plane - according to the flight tracker we're halfway to Sydney.  There are so many things to cover that I hope I don't bore you all with the details. But that's the beauty of this system, you can read what you want and ignore the rest.

As we were waiting in LAX for the next leg of our flight we noticed a group of 12  to 14 young people from Bankstown, Australia escorted by 2 middle aged women.  They were formally debriefing their trip to America while they were waiting to board the flight. I turned to unplug my device from the charger and thought I heard someone singing. In deed, one of the girls from the group, was in the center of a 5 gate area and singing with the voice of an angel...then her companions joined in. We found ourselves in the midst of a flash mob and it took me a second to realize that I had to capture this moment for all of you. Forgive my video capabilities, but this group of young talented Australians delivered a rendition of "We Are Australian" like I've never heard before.  With grateful hearts we felt very welcomed to Australia and had not yet left the USA!   See what you think. The group had been traveling throughout the USA performing in Las Vegas and Washington D.C. and were now on their way back home. http://youtu.be/Z9cggh9vXO4

After the impromptu performance the teacher said to a group of Australian passengers sitting in our gate area: "Did  you find that performance brought tears to your eyes?"  While I didn't hear their response - it definitely touched our hearts and brought a tear to my eyes.

P.S. Blogging does help pass the time in flight. We had a slight delay (45 minutes) while we taxied back to the gate so the ground crew could secure something in the cargo hold that had not been fastened in as it should have been. I am grateful for Delta's attention to safety and the pilot's respect for his team.  Someone on the team thought there was an unusual sound in the cargo hold as we exited the gate and signaled the captain who made the decision to check it out before taking 291 passengers and crew on the 14 hour and 1 minute flight from LAX to Sydney over open water.
