Anticipation Featured
Anticipation...tickets are purchased, some tours chosen, and now the bags are packed. We're headed Downunder to fulfill one of Bob's life long dreams. And I'm pretty excited to join him in fulfilling that dream.
Many people, who know my love for clothes and accessorizing, have been a bit skeptical that I could pack a carry on bag that would meet my needs for our 30 day adventure to Australia. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical myself. Well, I think I've done it! Knowng that we would be moving through airports multiple times during our time in Aussie Land, we do not want to be bogged down with large bags.
For the past couple of weeks I've been putting my Spring and Summer favorites in a pile next to my little 21" Samsonite hard sided bag and wondering if I could get in that little bag what I would be comfortable with for a whole month. What would I wear to site see, what would I wear to the beach, what would I wear to just hang out, what would I wear to a show at that wonderful Sydney Opera House and then it dawned on me - take what I'm most comfortable wearng and then I was able to pare back to the vital few pieces. Eddie Bauer and Lucy Active wear are my go to comfort wear so these are the basics for most days along with a few well chosen scarves and tops that allow me to dress-up. Color coordination is critical to success - I've chosen black and grey as my basic colors for bottoms (3 skirts, 2 capris, and 1 long). Bob checked on my packing progress and commented: "only 2 pairs of shoes - I'm proud of you". That is only 2 that he could see - I have to wear a pair (of course) and I have a little pair of No Sox flats to tuck in my lug bag - so technically I guess that is 4 pairs of shoes!
I recently read a post on http://www.annies-eats.com/2015/08/20/carry-on-only-my-approach-to-packing-for-air-travel/ which was very helpful in thinkng about the necessities while travelling lite.
So with 2 weeks to go - I have my 2 carry on bags almost packed (21" Samsonite and a LUG purse) and we've begun the final countdown. Please join us on our adventure of a lifetime.
