Post "Legends of the Outback" toast! Post "Legends of the Outback" toast!
The Kirby's had one more birthday surprise for Bob before we departed the Gold Coast.
Since traveling to the Outback was not part of our Australian travel itinerary on this trip, the Kirby's thought it only appropriate to experience the Outback through The High Country Legends Australian Outback Spectacular - in a word it was spectacular and according to the Kirby's very true to life. Jan grew up in the Outback so really wanted us to somehow see this awesome part of Australia. The show included incredible photography as a backdrop to exceptional performers partnered with magnificent horses, dogs, donkeys, and cattle to tell the story of the Outback.  This show captured the hearts of animal lovers, land lovers and patriots across the world. Prior to the show we were treated to a back stage tour of the paddocks and staging locations by Sophie one of the performers. It was so gratifying to know that the staff and the animals are well cared for and respected for what they bring to great show. As Sophie said: "it's a dream job!"

We were unable to photograph during the show so I have included links for you to connect directly to learn more about this incredible show. http://outbackspectacular.com.au/the-show/high-country-legends.aspx

Once we get to Melbourne, we're planning an Outback movie marathon including:
The Man From Snowy River
The Red Dog
Australia ( Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman)

The High Country Legends featured the music of one of Australia's country music stars: Lee Kernaghan.  His music was featured throughout the performance.
This might just be my new traveling music as I travel across southeastern Minnesota.

We're starting our first day in Cairns - very different than our first 2 stops. We happen to be staying in a very quaint spot about 1 block from the Cairns Hospital...more later.  Have a spectacular day!
